Meet Tango

Tango was found in the streets of Dallas, alone and vulnerable. At the time of her rescue, Tango appeared to have recently given birth, but sadly, her puppies were nowhere to be found. Her gentle nature was clear from the start, although she was timid and slow to trust anyone. Despite her situation, she surprisingly did well on a leash and appeared to have been house-trained. She knew how to walk without pulling and even how to untangle herself when her leash got caught - behaviors that suggested she once lived in a home.

The shelter has speculated that she may have been used for breeding purposes, a heartbreaking reality for pit bulls. With her brindle coat and distinct pit bull features, she would be appealing to pit bull lovers. Even though she has clearly gone through so much at the young age of one year, she has quickly shown why any family would be lucky to have her as a companion.

Once she bonds with someone, especially women, Tango becomes deeply loyal and protective. She showers the people she trusts with affection, usually in the form of non-stop licks. She’s still learning how to just “be a dog”, but she’s noticeably started figuring it out. Simple things like playing fetch, asking for belly rubs, or just relaxing without fear are new experiences for her, but she has started to distinguish good from bad, safe from danger. Over the last month, she’s learned a few commands and is clearly a very quick learner.

Tango’s story is a reminder of how resilient and loving dogs can be, even after experiencing trauma. She may be scared of loud noises, but she loves a high-pitched “good girl” and has finally started to understand what love looks like. She’s a pure pitty with a pure heart, waiting for her forever family to give her the love and safety she deserves.
